March 24, 2010

Dear Members & Friends of First Presbyterian Church of Northport,

As we continue to deal with the threat of the spread of the coronavirus, I wanted to reach out to you again with an update and to let you know that as your pastor, I am here with you and for you.

Last Sunday, March 22nd we held our first online worship service. I have had so many positive comments on the service, with people telling me that they were so happy to be able to worship again at FPC…even though we were not able to do so together in the sanctuary.

My thanks to Financial Manager, Kevin McKerr, and Joe & Nancy Winkler for making it possible to record and post the online worship service.

We will continue to worship online through the month of April. I know it is disappointing not to be able to worship together on Palm & Easter Sundays, however, in the best interests and safety of our congregation it is necessary to make these changes.

Our Sunday school class information will be available online as well.

The Board of Deacons and I have reached out to the most vulnerable members of our congregation during this stressful time. As we are isolated from one another during these difficult times, please reach out via phone, text or email to those who you know might be alone right now.

The church has been professionally cleaned, however, the building remains closed to all committee meetings and outside groups. Only essential staff are working in the building and others are working remotely.

Please join me in prayer for those around our country and the world who are sick, afraid, lonely or fearful; and in giving thanks for the men and women who are on the front lines in fighting this pandemic.

I look forward to worshipping with you “online” on Sunday morning!

With much joy in serving as your interim pastor.
